Tiree Baptist Church

About Us

There has been a Baptist church on Tiree for 170 years. During that time the island has seen great revival and tremendous movements of God's spirit.

There have been quieter periods too. However, the Church has received much encouragement and support in recent years from individuals and groups associated with other Churches both in the UK and overseas as well as other Christian organisations such as Youth With A Mission. The Church has grown numerically, reflecting the changing and increasingly diverse population profile of the island.

The focal point of our coming together is the Sunday morning service
at 11.00 am. We are very “child friendly” both in the family part of
the service and then in separate age appropriate teaching groups. Worship and teaching are central to our services, but our fellowship is welcoming and inclusive. Tea and coffee are served after each service.

On Sunday evenings we alternate weekly between reflective Church services and discursive Home Fellowships.  During the week, we meet for prayer in various groupings. Other activities such as youth events and fellowship meals are held regularly.

We have a full time pastor, with support from the Baptist Union of Scotland, who is part of a leadership team of six. There is a separate youth ministry leadership team of six.  We have a project management team for our building programme (see News page) and a joint working group with the local Church of Scotland to explore ways of developing existing areas of shared ministry.

MAINLY MUSIC - this new initiative for pre-school children and their parents/caregivers aims to provide an opportunity to develop skills to enhance their preschool education. To find our more click here.
