Tiree Baptist Church

About Us

There has been a Baptist church on Tiree for 170 years. During that time the island has seen great revival and tremendous movements of God's Spirit.

There have been quieter periods too. However, the Church has received much encouragement and support in recent years from individuals and groups associated with other Churches both in the UK and overseas as well as other Christian organisations such as Youth With A Mission. The Church has grown numerically, reflecting the changing and increasingly diverse population profile of the island.

The focal point of our coming together is the Sunday morning service
at 11.00am in An Talla - the community Hall. We are very “child friendly” both in the family part of the service and then in separate age appropriate teaching groups. Worship and teaching are central to
our services, but our fellowship is welcoming and inclusive. Tea and coffee are served after each service, sometimes followed by a fellowship lunch.

On Sunday evenings we generally join with the Church of Scotland in one of their buildings. During the week, we meet for prayer on Tuesday evenings and for a joint Bible Study with the Church of Scotland on Thursday evenings. As these rotate around various venues, please contact us for details.

We have a vacancy for a part-time pastor, with support from the Baptist Union of Scotland. We have a leadership team of four and a separate youth ministry leadership team.  We work with the local Church of Scotland to explore ways of developing existing areas of shared ministry.

MAINLY MUSIC - is for pre-school children and their parents or caregivers and aims to provide an opportunity to develop skills and
to enhance preschool education. To find out more click here.
